Bamboo Brother

Meet the Bamboo Brother

Some people tell me I’m crazy about bamboo. That’s not entirely true. I mean, I love bamboo, and I do have a passion for it. But crazy? I don’t think so. I’m just a hardworking bamboo enthusiast. But here’s one fellow who may deserve the label of bamboo fanatic. Meet Bamboo Brother, and check him out at bamboopower.com.

The Brother has been extolling the virtues of bamboo for nigh on a decade, and he even cruises around his native California in a bamboo van. Yeah, that’s right. Check out these photos!

Like I’ve always said: Anything worth doing is worth over-doing!

The Future of Bamboo

March 13, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

At the cutting edge of bamboo technology, Bambu Batu of San Luis Obispo is now the one and only source in the county for Solid Hardwood Bamboo Furniture.

Architects and home owners have been enjoying the benefits of Bamboo Flooring for years, and now the age of hardwood bamboo furniture has finally come into being. By laminating layer upon layer of bamboo strips, Greenington LLC of Kent, Washington, has achieved an entirely fresh and modern look, while maximizing the strength and resilience of the incredible plant.

A hardy member of the grass family, bamboo includes some 2000 species, many of which grow up to 2-3 feet per day and are stronger than oak. A swath of bamboo also releases 35% more oxygen than an equal area of trees. The fastest growing, most renewable plant on earth, bamboo has been used throughout most of the world for millennia, but its full potential is just beginning to be realized in the west.

Swing through Bambu Batu in downtown SLO and experience the bamboo revolution for yourself. Furniture, gifts, housewares, and incredibly soft natural-fiber clothing, all from a single, phenomenal plant.

Found: New Bamboo!
A new variety of native North American bamboo was discovered last month (3/07) by botanists in North Carolina. Hill Cane is the third known variety of bamboo indigenous to the continental United States.
Arundinaria appalachiana, as it’s known to botanists, differs from Switch Cane and River Cane, also native to the American southeast, in that it drops its leaves in the winter.

Very Special Thanks to PURO NECTAR of Lübeck, Germany and PACHA of San Luis Obispo, CA for their assistance in Bambu Batu website development.
